Gert Soerensen is one of Scandinavia's most prominent pastry chefs and teachers. For many years, he worked as a pastry chef at hotels in Denmark and abroad, and has been the owner of "Konditoriet" in Tivoli.
Gert Soerensen was also a teacher for 28 years, at the hotel school in Copenhagen, with desserts as a specialty. He has published 9 books on desserts and the arts of pastry.
Gert Soerensen is the president of the Nordic Chefs Association and of the Association of Chefs de Cuisine Dolces, a Knight of the Association Internationale des Maîtres-Conseils en Gastronomy Française and a member of many other high class associations lik Euro Toques, the Saint-Honoré Order and The World Chefs Society. He is also an honorary Callebaut Chocolate Ambassador.
Gert Soerensen is one of those craftsmen who really master the culinary "art". He made miniatures in pastry of all Danish slots. In 1983 he set the Guinness World Record for the highest-ever wedding cake (height 11 metres, weight 4,6tons).
